Liabilities.
Legal liability for sickness or injury.
High awards for personal injury claims are now commonplace and any business is
vulnerable to ruinous court action brought by employees or third parties following
injury or illness in course of their employment or dealings with the business.
A business may be sued if one employee injures another or injures a visitor or member of the public.
If a product causes sickness or injury to the user an action may be brought. A disclaimer on the
product is not enough.
- A visitor may be injured by processes or a building defect.
- The risk of food poisoning in some trades needs special attention.
- Financial loss can be sustained following professional negligence.
- Directors and senior managers may be personally liable without being involved personally in the incident causing the action.
Indemnity limits need to be adequate, not excessive. Lovat will show you how to concentrate resources on those risks which really threaten your business.
